Brixton Arches set to host University of Arts London Pop-up Exhibition

20/04/2023

The Brixton Arches on Atlantic Road will be filled with an immersive multi-disciplinary exhibition for just three days next week. As part of our community engagement, The Arch Company will support the work of eight artists from the University of Arts London, who have curated a pop-up exhibition. Entitled “Rapture to Reckoning” this will be hosted in the railway arch at 20 Atlantic Road, which forms part of the iconic Brixton Arches.

Live from Monday 24th April for three days, the exhibition will combine performance, film, photography, sculpture, print, installation, painting, and textiles. The concept is to encourage visitors to explore re-embracing our wilderness within a dystopian world, shaped by the remains of our past environment.

Freya Hayes from Rapture to Reckoning, said:

“We look forward to inviting the people of Brixton and beyond into the immersive world we are creating. We want to encourage thought into what people, culture and nature mean to us; we are creating a reality without them, to highlight how important our world is and we are to each other. The arches are a great example of the gap between past and present, they are a relic of what once was. We want to thank The Arch Company for providing the space for us to present this world in.”

Rapture to Reckoning will take place at 20 Atlantic Road. Running from Monday, 24 to Wednesday, 26 April between 6pm – 8pm each day, with a ticketed private viewing on the 24th. For tickets, please visit @rapture_to_reckoning on Instagram.
