The Arch Company announces Craig McWilliam as new CEO

07/07/2021

The Arch Company, the UK’s leading small business landlord, is pleased to announce that Craig McWilliam will become its new Chief Executive Officer in January 2022.

Current Managing Director Adam Dakin and Asset Director Graeme Hunter will remain involved in the business as they transition over the course of 2022 to part time roles.

The Arch Company continues to be fully committed to investing in our communities and bringing more arches back into use. Craig’s appointment reaffirms the shareholders’ belief in the future success of a robust operationally independent company.

Craig has a wealth of property experience, having recently worked for the NHS and Grosvenor, Britain and Ireland; he will take the role at an important time as businesses across the country look to recover and grow following the pandemic.

The Arch Company is a long-term landlord to nearly 4,000 predominantly small businesses across England and Wales, the majority in London, supporting over 25,000 jobs.

Craig McWilliam said:

“I am very pleased to be joining The Arch Company at this important moment, and to be working with Adam and Graeme, supporting such a diverse range of businesses and communities across London and the UK.”

Adam Dakin, The Arch Company Managing Director, said:

“We are delighted to have someone of Craig’s track record and calibre joining us next year to lead The Arch Company. It’s been a very tough 15 months for small businesses but those in the arches have shown incredible resilience. As UK restrictions ease, we are excited about our plans to invest millions in the estate, bring more derelict arches back into use and creating space for many more small and medium sized businesses.”

Adam Shah, Head of Real Estate Asset Management Europe, Blackstone, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Craig to lead The Arch Company. His wealth of experience will be invaluable in supporting and growing the unique arches community which makes a vital contribution to the UK economy. We are very grateful to Adam Dakin and Graeme Hunter, who have been instrumental in building the company, and we are pleased Adam and Graeme will continue to be involved in the business.”
